Thailand – New Guidelines for Notarial Certification of Signatures on Power of Attorney

Bangkok – June 17, 2026: The Thai Trademark Office has issued new Guidelines for the Consideration of Notarial Certification of Signatures on an Appointment of Representative or Power of Attorney, effective 17 June 2026. Accordingly:

  • If the notarized Power of Attorney (POA) states that the notarization is valid only for a specific period, and that period has expired before the trademark application is filed, the Trademark Office will require a new notarized POA.
  • If the notarization only shows the expiry date of the notary public’s license or appointment, the notarization will still be accepted, provided that the notary public was authorized to act on the date the document was signed.
