VIETNAM IP OFFICE PRIORITIZES ONLINE APPLICATIONS IN THE FIELD OF INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY
Hanoi, July 2025
In line with the national digital transformation policy adopted by the Party and the State under Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated 22 December 2024, which emphasizes breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, the Vietnam IP Office (under the Ministry of Science and Technology) has been implementing measures to enhance the quality of its online administrative procedure system. This system enables organizations, individuals, and businesses to carry out intellectual property-related procedures in a faster, more convenient, transparent, and cost-effective manner.
Accordingly, as of 10 August 2025, the Vietnam IP Office will implement a mechanism to prioritize the receipt and processing of applications submitted online in the field of industrial property. At the same time, the Office is currently studying a roadmap toward exclusively accepting online applications, thereby fully replacing paper-based submissions.
Applications submitted through the online public service system will be automatically categorized, digitized, and integrated into the official processing workflow. This helps reduce processing time, improve administrative efficiency, and enjoy a 50% reduction in official fees as prescribed.
For applications submitted through other means (in-person or by post), the Vietnam IP Office will continue to receive and process them in accordance with the current regulations.
